LOW-COST ESA LETTERS FOR RENTERS IN CHARLESTON
"Emotional Support Animal (ESA)" is a federally recognized status of animal that has certain protections under the Fair Housing Act. In South Carolina, a property owner/rental company cannot deny residence to pet owners if that animal is deemed an ESA. Additionally, any fees such as animal security deposits and pet rent are permanently waived. In order to qualify an animal as an ESA, renters need a letter from a licensed mental health professional certifying this animal aids in the treatment of a mental health condition.
After completing your intake paperwork, I'll meet with you for a 30-minute session to discuss your mental health history, your pet, and the ways you experience symptom relief from your animal. I'll then send you a signed ESA certification letter suitable for any rental property. Disqualifiers include any animals with history of violence, or an excess of animals that you cannot adequately provide for. Any non-domesticated animals or wild finds will not receive a letter. Please be conscientious and leave the pigs, squirrels and horses to the rescue farms!
